While they lead the way in adrenaline charged game development, they are unfrtunately hitting the wrong kind of excitement.
All the bugs and errors with 2142 makes for a fun night when it works properly, it turns quickly to rage and frustration at the bugs built into the system. Now, I can't slam someone without pointing out the good things to lessen the sting, since criticism without context is counterproductive.
To wit:
-Game play (when functional) is unsurpassed for supplying the old adage of combat "Hours of sheer boredome coupled with moments of abject terror" (granted, some charity provided for the timelines there, as EA has endeavored to make 2142 a fast paced, white-knuckles-on-the-mouse game.
-Honest attempt to curtail the bane of a gamer's existance, the hacker. These individuals are less than scum. Granted, the provide a service to the developer who must always develop countermeasurs to defeat them, but the point of the game is to PLAY. Not to say, "hey, i suck but I beat the system". Gamers should unite everywhere and beat the licing crap out of these people, since they take time away from developers creating even more uber games and more on how to keep mr. "1's and 0's" from the rest of us.

Now to the bad ...
EA... please PLEASE please! WORK ON YOUR CODE! Admin abuse aside, why do I have to reinstall the entire game to stay connected?! I realize you are dealing with alot of issues with internet connection speed, hackers, and unforseen bugs, but my God! One would think you work for Micro$***t the way this thing works. Fresh install with a day of play and constant disconnects AGAIN?! I'd call my ISP, but I really believe its in the code somewhere. FIX IT. And stop with the teasers already. Give us a week before the new patch-then release the damn thing. You are no better than the cable company at this rate-"Please be home between 9 AM and Midnight the second Tuesday of next week, we will have our technician call you when e's done bangin' the wife".

I'll Drink to that....but yeah loved their reply about the msg I sent them. Told them I was "Aware" that the game was not designed for a 64bit system however it was working fine I was just unable to patch it. Their reply....

Unfortunately it has not been made to be compliant with a 64bit OS, however we can try and manually uninstall it to remove the possibly corrupt file... lol

Anyways I'm reinstalling now, changed my directory to the more common one instead of teh 64OS one, Hopefully the patcher will reconize it this way. If not....well I'll be around lol but I dont play with you all till MWLL Smile

Please download a new <BF2142.EXE> from the link below. I would appreciate it if you could rename your current one to

<C:/PROGRAM FILES/ELECTRONIC ARTS/BATTLEFIELD 2142 DELUXE EDITION/BF2142.EXE.OLD >

Extract the downloaded file into the application path mentioned and start the new application.

The link for the new file is:

http://www.securom.com/support/custo...033/BF2142.zip

I followed the above instructions and now BF2142 works just fine.
